Pre-Conference Sessions - A Financial Sustainability Business Model for AHECS: A Case for Social Enterprise

Presenters will facilitate four interdependent modules relative to Social Enterprise. The four modules will include:

1.  The establishment of need to develop earned revenue strategies;
2.  A review of social enterprise best practices;
3.  Specific steps for transitioning a traditional non-profit AHEC operation into an effective social enterprise business model, and;
4.  Techniques for maximizing effectiveness with respect to accounting practices and programming. The interactive workshop will include delivery of information, instruction, tools and templates.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify no less than four financial and mission-related benefits from adopting an AHEC-based social enterprise business model.
  2. Participants will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the nature, key elements and operations of a social enterprise by sequentially administering a series of requisites related to supporting a social enterprise business model in their respective AHEC centers.
  3. Participants will be able to employ specific accounting and program planning practices designed to support and grow the social enterprise business model with their respective AHEC centers.

Target Audience

This workshop is intended to provide information, instruction, tools, and templates for any AHEC personnel who are in a position to initiate further exploration and/or transition the operation of their AHEC center into a social enterprise business model.
